High season runs from October to April, and two stretches inside it book out early. Here is how the calendar actually works on this part of the Oaxacan coast.
High season: October to April
This is when most visitors come to Huatulco, and when Playa Arrocito is at its best. Rates are higher, the beaches are busier, and the town has more going on. If you want the version of the coast people describe in postcards, book inside this window.
The two weeks to book early
Two stretches inside high season fill up well before the rest: 15 December to 7 January, and Easter week. Mexican families travel domestically in both, so demand is not driven by international flights and it does not soften. If your dates fall in either, book as far ahead as you can.
May to September: quieter and cheaper
The low season is genuinely quiet. Fewer people on the sand, easier tables, and lower rates. It is also warmer and wetter — this is the greener half of the year on this coast, and rain tends to arrive in bursts rather than settling in for days.
If your priority is a quiet beach and a longer stay for the money, this is the better half of the calendar. Both condos have air conditioning in the bedrooms and ceiling fans throughout.
How long to stay
There is a 2-night minimum, but Arrocito rewards a slower trip. Guests who stay a week settle into a rhythm — beach in the morning, pool in the afternoon, dinner on the terrace. Casa Arrocito has its own laundry room, which makes a longer stay easier.
One thing to budget for
Electricity is billed separately at 5 MXN per kW, read at check-in and again at check-out. In the hotter months, running air conditioning at night will show up on that meter, so it is worth knowing before you arrive rather than at the end.
